Frances was born at Charlton, Wiltshire, England. She married Sir Francis Manners, Katherine's father, May 6, 1602. He was the 6th Earl of Rutland and born in 1578. Katherine was the Baroness De Ros. She died of smallpox.

The sixth Earl of Rutland, Admiralty Lord Francis Manners (died 1632) was an investor in the East India Company and also took part in the 1620 Amazon adventure.
